Ladies and gentlemen in a hurry,I know you've got to get your holiday on,
Kissing under exploding skies,
The perfect effigy to our abiding right, rampant purchase:
Beans, weenies, watermelon too.
Cum stains on skirts or
Drunken teens abstaining not
From creating generations
Out of one inarticulate quip,
It matters not,
Particularly in this,
My blissless ambiguity.
An impersonal impression
At first it may exude;
Worry not, as you no doubt tend,
I am merely seizing an inopportune moment,
Preferring to externalize
The pang in my ear,
The grit in my eye.
If it's your problem too,
Can we not share the burden?
Driven to a fervent rough fuck,
Can we not in passion's hold
Insinuate the absurd,
Mate this pathetic resignation
With an impetuous ambivalence
That might somehow, preferably with magic's roar,
Defeat this overwhelming sense of entitlement
With the shame of wasted life?

Well, it was worth a shot. ;)
Happy Fourth of July, Freida Bee! I like your poem, especially the part about the Beans, weenies, and watermelon.
I would say that if the grit your eye and the pang in your ear causes you to stumble, pluck it out! Furthermore, I'm not sure that you can combine resignation with impetuous ambivalence, pathetic or otherwise, and I have always been of the opinion that all human life is wasted, some parts of it more than others.
You were the only one that got the Marky Mark joke! The actor Mark "Don't call me Marky Mark!" Wahlberg played Charleton Heston's role in the aweful remake of "Planet of the Apes". You are truly a very discerning individual! ;o)
I think you've found your poetic center. I say stick with it. I have to agree with Dr Zaius on the statement that all human life is wasted. So we're all in this mess together. I'm only hoping for magic's roar, but I've certainly lived with impetuous ambivalence. Onward with this glide toward publication of a lovely volume of poetry. The photo's a work of art too.
I think the part about "Drunken teens abstaining not" is probably my favorite line.
... it touched me so deeply, I almost cried, actually....
i really enjoyed reading this.
Life isn't wasted, not as long as there's teevee and Funyuns. Oh, FB, you're so dark. Where's the bouncy kickball of joy?
Love the poem. I'm partial to the "drunken teens abstaining not" also.
life is funny
